Start here - Marketing: Our Story
|
Broadcasting firstIn 1923, we started as a heritage radio station. It stayed that way for more than nine decades until we moved to the campus of Purdue Northwest. Students and grads made us realize that the Region needs a TV station. Here's what we came up with:
|
Marketing next Technology allowed us to create a system in which your spot plays on TV, radio and sometimes social media.
Now let's turn technology loose on marketing itself. What we came up with is a way for you to buy streaming video and radio advertising right here on this website - at low prices. Browse the products. If you find something you like, click on it, sign up, and pay. If you have questions first, just call us and we'll walk you through it. Cancel any time. |
Sustainability third
From radio, we already know the model:
With streaming video, we completed the first part. We built one of the most advanced streaming video systems among local media in America. We broadcast hundreds of local segments each week on JEDtv. Now it's time for businesses to support it, to place TV commercials next to local athletes, talk show hosts, newscasters, comedians, etc - for as low as $69 a week. Once business learns about us, we'll have closed the loop. We'll be closer to the ultimate mission, which is to build a sustainable local media that does good for the Region. |
24-hour WJOB We have been broadcasting Region content all day for 99 years. News, sports, weather, traffic, talk, events, etc. It worked in 1923, and it works in 2023.
24-hour JEDtv. Since TV started, we got our TV from Chicago. So we built JEDtv. It started slowly during Covid but has since grown quickly. We built robotic studios at Purdue Northwest, partnered with The Times on TV news, and partnered with 10 schools. That's just the beginning.
The power of 24: The strength is the streams. The 24-hour TV and radio streams aggregate all things Region. Schools want to develop sustainable revenue. Purdue, IU and the NFL know that there's enough people listening to WJOB that they want their games on radio here. And towns, school districts, charities, law enforcement, businesses - they do shows and podcasts, which air multiple times on TV and radio. And both The Times and us are surprised how much the Region wants our own TV.partner with The Times on video newscasts.
